The Engagement Committee develops strategies and oversees activities that promote the engagement of new members and the continuing involvement of current members, helping them to recognize the value proposition of their membership. The Connectors Program, a recent initiative of the Engagement Committee, provides each new member with a Forum connector, who introduces her to Forum programs, initiatives, events and members.  This year a Current Member Connector Program is being developed.

The committee is also responsible for the creation and oversight of Affinity Groups, which are formed for the purpose of small group interaction and information exchange among Forum members with similar interests. Additionally, members of the Engagement Committee can volunteer to serve as Meeters and Greeters at Forum events.

“The Forum’s Engagement Committee embodies the values and philosophy of The Forum as a whole: connection, relationships and learning.” Afaf Meleis, PhD, DrPS, FAAN, Margaret Bond Simon Dean of Nursing, University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing

Committee activities include:

  • Conduct an annual survey of Forum members to get feedback and recommendations about what would keep members engaged in the organization. Recommendations will be shared with Program, Membership and other committees as appropriate so that implementation can be achieved.
  • Facilitate the creation of and support for Affinity Groups to keep members connected and engaged.
  • Collaborate with other Forum committees to ensure that processes and activities are mission-driven and engage members in a variety of ways.
  • Determine ways to leverage The Forum’s Web site to engage members, including posting information about Affinity Group activities and significant awards that would be of interest to the membership and align with The Forum’s mission.

Committee member responsibilities include:

  • Attending meetings and volunteering to work on the various activities outlined above.
