FORUM NEWS JANUARY 2009

FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome to 2009 and our latest version of
Forum News!

In our continuing effort to "Go Green" and respect our planet, we will be communicating with you through e-communications whenever possible. So it's more important than ever to stay connected to The Forum by reviewing the content on our website and reading our on-line newsletters. We will make every effort to keep the information as current as possible.

I am pleased to announce our second annual Leadership Symposium: Clout: Getting It, Using It and Passing It On, to be held at the Union League on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. It promises to be a "not to be missed" signature Forum event that clearly embraces our mission to "leverage the power of executive women." It will feature an all-star array of thought-leaders and conclude with a keynote by two nationally recognized media personalities. Early registrations and sponsorships are welcome, and you will find additional information about the symposium in this newsletter.

We are focusing on many new initiatives this year. Be sure to take advantage of our new Forum Forays, upcoming cultural event and other initiatives coming out of our Engagement, Executive Suites, Mentoring, Program, and Public Sector Leadership committees, many of which we will be describing in upcoming communications.

It is my hope, especially during these difficult economic times, that we continue to value the importance of relationships and reach out to support each other. Maintaining and creating new relationships and partnerships is paramount to sustaining our success as executive leaders. I'm sure you will take advantage of these opportunities "to leverage the power of executive women." As always, I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming Forum event!

All the best for a successful 2009!

THANKS FROM THE CAREER WARDROBE

At our December Holiday Dinner, members more than answered our call to bring their gently-used and new accessories for donation to The Career Wardrobe.

Heather Bennett, Program & Marketing Manager, wrote, "Thanks to the generosity of Forum members, The Career Wardrobe filled the back of a Hummer, which is no small feat! Ninety percent of the accessories we collected in the month of December have already been distributed to our clients. It's always exciting for us, as an organization, to be able to offer them the choices that your organization, The Forum of Executive Women, provided." Forum members are encouraged to submit their ideas. If your suggestion is accepted, you will have the opportunity to put your Foray into action by coordinating the logistics for the event in coordination with The Forum Office.
